******** CTCD/NTHU HEP Seminar ********
Speaker :Dr. Jasper Nepveu (NTU)
Title :Renormalizing Higgs decays in the Standard Model Effective Field
Theory
Time :12:30-13:30, Thursday, 2025/3/27
Place :R521, 5F, General Building II, Nat'l Tsing Hua Univ.
Host : Prof. Po-Yen Tseng (NTHU)
Abstract:
The renormalization group (RG) relates parameters of a quantum field
theory between different energy scales. Especially in effective field
theories, which deal with large scale separations, the RG evolution
plays an important role. Moreover, due to the large number of parameters
in the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT), there are
intricate RG mixing patterns between them. In my talk, I will introduce
the SMEFT and I will identify an observable to which the renormalization
group provides an enhanced contribution, with phenomenological
relevance. Time permitting, I will discuss a general class of RG mixing
which is manifestly positive, thereby pinpointing more relevant
directions in parameter space.
