Abstract:
The Affleck–Dine mechanism is a compelling scenario for baryogenesis, in
which scalar condensates form coherently during inflation along flat
directions lifted by supersymmetry-breaking effects. We update the
viable baryogenesis parameter space using recent Cosmic Microwave
Background (CMB) constraints on baryon-density isocurvature
perturbations, with quantum fluctuations of the scalar condensate
generated during inflation as the initial conditions. In this talk, I
will show that primordial features suggested by CMB observations offer a
distinctive probe of baryogenesis in flat-direction models, whose high
energy scales generally make them difficult to test directly. Such
features can produce correlated signatures in curvature and
baryon-density isocurvature perturbations, potentially revealing the
light and heavy modes that participate in the Affleck–Dine mechanism.
