Title : A Microscopic model of black hole horizon and black hole chaos
Time :12:30-13:30, Thursday, 2026/10/15
Place :R521, 5F, General Building II, Nat'l Tsing Hua Univ.
Host : Prof. Kingman Cheung (NTHU) & Prof. Norihiro Iizuka (NTHU)
Abstract:
Black holes are conjectured to be maximally chaotic, with their
quantum spectra expected to exhibit universal random-matrix correlations.
This expectation, however, has so far rested largely on holographic
descriptions or on many-body models in which randomness is introduced
rather than derived from the microscopic degrees of freedom of the
horizon itself. In this talk, we will first review a recent proposal of
microscopic black hole horizon based on large N quantum mechanics.
For this model, the standard RMT spectral chaos arises as a result of the quantum
fluctuations of the horizon geometry, the Dyson class of the random-matrix
universality is determined by the antiunitary symmetry of the underlying quantum
geometry. Implications of the result will be discussed.
